Statements to US government committees

Image333333A collection of various statements and testimonies made by industry figures to the government subcommittees investigating the circumstances surrounding the Deepwater Horizon incident has been published on the Club website.

These papers are addressing the proposal made last month that the liability provisions of the current OPA 90 should be amended. In addition to providing different perspectives on this proposal, the papers include useful short explanations of the current legislation and the functions of related agencies such as the National Pollution Funds Center.

The collection of papers includes statements, among others, on behalf of the International Group, INTERTANKO, the International Chamber of Shipping and the US Attorney General’s office.

This dedicated resources page will also collate other various advisories and updates on the Deepwater Horizon incident in the Gulf of Mexico as they arise. A link to this resources page is also located towards the foot of this editorial page.

Other resources on this page are links to the websites of the Unified Command leading the response to this incident, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and US Coast Guard and Department of Homeland Security.

We recommend that Members check this site from time to time for further updates and bulletins. These latest announcements from the Club will be included in the Latest Updates email sent to all Members who have registered to use the Members Area of our website.
