Summer holiday contacts

August is the main summer holiday for most of the Club office network. However, a system of personnel cover is maintained during this time to ensure that Members’ claims and other issues are attended to when the usual contacts are taking leave.

Public holidays in August which affecting Club offices include Thomas Miller’s Sydney office (closed Monday 2nd August) and the London office (closed Monday, 30 August).

The latest contact details for both Area Groups and the local Club offices are continuously maintained at Emergency and Out Of Hours Contacts which is linked at the head of every page of this website.

Members are reminded that claims and other correspondence by email should always use the appropriate team mailbox address. A full listing of these addresses can be found on the inside back cover of the current Club List of Correspondents/Rules & Bye-Laws and in Making Contact. Personal email addresses are not monitored during an executive’s absence. Messages may lay unseen in a personal mailbox while they are out of the office.

Members whose own colleagues will be covering for their holiday absences may wish to refer this information to them to assist communications during that absence.

We will continue to post topical relevant items on the Club website – especially in our Loss Prevention area – throughout the summer.

Gulf of Mexico

A dedicated resources page is now available on our website to collate the various advisories and updates on the Deepwater Horizon incident in the Gulf of Mexico. A link to this page can be found here.

China oil pollution regulations

Because of the continuing uncertainty regarding their implementation we have compiled a special web page of materials and references on the Regulations including a 24 hour service line contact number for China Marine Services for use in the event of difficulties with port entry.

Marpol Annex VI

MARPOL Annex VI sets limits on sulphur oxide and nitrogen oxide emissions from ship exhausts and prohibits deliberate emissions of ozone depleting substances. It also contains provisions allowing for special SOx Emission Control Areas (SECAS) to be established with more stringent controls on sulphur emissions.
