IG Annual Report 2015/16 Published
The Group Secretariat which manages the day-to-day co-ordination of internal administration on Group matters, external engagement and representation on behalf of the Group P&I clubs has just published its annual report - a pdf copy is available here.
The International Group maintains its own website where it publishes documents, bulletins and commentary on its activities.
The International Group of P&I Clubs exists to arrange collective insurance and reinsurance for P&I Clubs, to represent the views of shipowners and charterers who belong to those Clubs on matters of concern to the shipping industry and to provide a forum for the exchange of information.
"The shipowner's liability cover provided by the Group Clubs, and through the Group’s claims pooling and reinsurance arrangements, is a key factor in enabling world seaborne trade, the protection of the marine environment and of the interests of both public and private victims of maritime accidents. Furthermore, the spread of risk across Club’s mutual tonnages, and the cost efficiency of the collective reinsurance purchases, delivers significant benefits to the shipowner members of the Group Clubs." Hugo Wynn-Williams (International Group Chairman)
