Serving your insurance needs
All types of ships, all types of markets
The UK Club's fleet of entered ships displays the same balance and variety of ship types and trades as the international merchant marine.
Tankers, bulk carriers, container ships, passenger ships - both cruise and ferry, gas carriers, car carriers, tug and barge - all are present in roughly the same proportion as can be found plying the world's oceans. However, a significant portion of the entered fleet are those ships that serve unique and highly specialised markets such as cable-laying, offshore services, fishing, survey, even floating academies.
Range of protection and cover
Whilst many risks and liabilities are universal to ship operations, the Club recognises the need to tailor covers to suit the requirements of different classes of operator or areas of operation.
Variations may reflect the relationship or trading position a Member has in regard to a ship e.g. a charterer. Equally cover may need to be tailored to accommodate additional risks that operators face such as extended cargo liabilities or additional contractual liabilities to passengers.
Prompt and proper documentation
The Club's quality assurance standard includes rigorous control of cover and other insurance documentation.
The main body of cover in the Club Rules & Bye-Laws is a publicly available document which can be downloaded from the Publications section of this website. Certificates of Entry are issued promptly and "right first time" both on inception of cover and subsequently at renewal.
Both these certificates and the 'Blue Cards' needed to evidence insurance for CLC and Bunkers Convention liabilities can be downloaded as fully authorised documents from the Members Area of this website.
We continue to develop web-based services for our Members Area. Services such as our “ClaimsTrac” system allow you to access and analyse your claims data and loss record at your convenience – day or night.
Accessible & flexible
We recognise that different ship operators have different arrangements for obtaining and negotiating their insurances.
Authorised brokers and insurance consultants are welcomed and enjoy the same access and support to Club services as Members to enable them to fulfil their duties to their clients to the best of their ability.
Equally, Members who prefer to handle their own insurance affairs are fully supported and guided to enable them to achieve their objectives and be confident in their relationship with the Club.
In addition to comprehensive mutual P&I insurance, the UK Club can offer tailored cover for additional operations and liabilities.
