On Thursday 3rd November 2016, Her Royal Highness Princess Anne, President of Mission to Seafarers Singapore (MTSS) visited Singapore's Jurong Port for MTSS reception

on board the tall ship - The Royal Albatross.

The reception was to celebrate the work of The Mission to Seafarers' Singapore (MTSS), which is the largest seafaring welfare charity in Singapore.

was established in 1924, to serve the needs of the world's 1.5 million seafarers and supports seafarers in trouble or distress.

In recognition of their work, the UK Club and Thomas Miller have a long-standing commitment to support the work and initiatives of the Mission to Seafarers. As platinum sponsor of the event, the UK Club was delighted to be able to continue our support of MTSS and to help raise funds to sustain it for the future.

Last year volunteers drawn from the shipping and marine insurance community in Singapore rowed two old fashioned pilot gigs (made and shipped from Cornwall) round Singapore and raised S$1,000,000 in cash and equivalents. During the reception on board the Royal Albatross, a second Mission Row Around Singapore Island (Mission RASI) was announced and Thomas Miller P&I Chairman and Chief Executive Hugo Wynn-Williams presented Mission RASI with the Thomas Miller Challenge Trophy - a replica of the wooden clinker built 1830 pilot gig Bonnet - as a prize for the winning gig in all future competitions.
