Asian Gypsy Moths update May 2016

The Club would like to remind Members of the threat of Asian Gypsy Moth’s during the flight season (May- end of September.) The Moth, an exotic pest native to the Far East (specifically Russia, China and Japan) is highly destructive when spreading its eggs on cargo ship and shipping containers partaking in international trade.

Therefore from May to late September vessels calling at ports in Asia should be inspected before departure to reduce risk.

The Department of Agriculture in the United states has recently produced an alert that Members can refer to in order to address specific questions. The PDF can be accessed here:
