1033 - 04/15 - Fire Causes Delays and Terminal Congestion at Santos - Brazil
The Association has been advised of delays and terminal congestion as a consequence of the fire at Ultracargo chemical terminal, located at Alemoa/Santos port, Brazil.
The following terminals are congested: the container terminals BTP, Ecoporto, Libra and Rodrimar, the sugar terminals RUMO/COSAN and Copersucar, the grain terminals located at the exports corridor, Caramuru, ADM as well as TGrão, Citrosuco (juice).
With regard to operations at Alemoa liquid cargo terminal, the authorities are checking the possibility of berthing a LPG vessel for discharge cargo but all other operations are suspended until further notice.
The marine traffic in the vicinity of the fire is also suspended. The docking of vessels at the Port Terminal Luiz Antonio Mesquita (Tiplan) and Terminal Usiminas, in Cubatao, is being reviewed by the Maritime Authority and might be also suspended.
