197 - 07/01 - Increased Tug Use/Charges - Sepetiba - Brazil
We have recently been advised that the DINA GEMINI has recently run aground in the channel leading into the port of Sepetiba in Brazil and become stuck fast in the mud.
The port authority has moved the buoys delineating the channel and are insisting that all ships attempting to pass the casualty have three or four tugs as an escort. It is likely that, with this increased demand for tugs, the hire rate will significantly increase.
