343 - 01/04 - Settlements of Customs Fines - Lome - Togo

Date: 01/01/2004
Download:

We have been advised that the Head of Port Customs has issued a directive to all ship agencies concerning the settlement of custom fines.

This directive states – amongst other things - that:

The negotiation of the fine must take place within 21 days of the date of receipt of the outturn report.

Payment of the fine is to be within eight weeks of the date of negotiation.

If these time periods are not respected, customs will impose the total of the fine as officially calculated and will also block all activities of the ship’s agent or the owners concerned in the Port of Lome.

Members should be aware of the above and to inform their operations departments accordingly.
