624 - 2/09 - New Container Terminal - Taipei - Taiwan
The Association has been advised by Members of difficulties in obtaining navigational information for a new container terminal just opened in Taipei.
Problems have arisen with vessels due to berth at this new terminal finding it difficult to obtain charts and other navigational advice. There are presently no BA charts available nor any Pilot Book information. The Taiwanese Navy Hydrographic Office advises the local (harbour approaches chart) 354 is presently out of print and that chart 354a (Harbour area) is presently unavailable due to high demand with the port opening.
Members trading to this area should ensure charterers are advised in due time if adequate information for the safe navigation/berthing of the ship cannot be obtained prior to commencement of the voyage to this port.
