SOLAS VI Regulation 2 Essential guidance for ship operators on the implementation of amendment requiring the verified gross mass of packed containers

Trulli

The IMO has amended the SOLAS Convention to require, as a condition for loading packed container onto a ship for export, that the container has a verified gross mass. From the 1st July 2016, the requirement will become mandatory and will apply globally. After this date, it will be a violation of SOLAS to load a packed container onto a ship if the ship operator and marine terminal operator do not have a verified container gross mass.

The UK P&I Club In conjunction with the TT Club have outlined the key requirements and actions for container ship operators in our latest publication - SOLAS VI Regulation 2.
