Career Summary
David served with a Glasgow based ship management company for 22 years from cadet to captain in command and latterly as a marine superintendent, before branching out as an independent Safety Inspector and superintendent.
He joined Thomas Miller P & I (the Managers of the UK P & I Club) at the inception of the ship inspection programme in 1990 leaving for a period of two years to become the General Manager and Operations Director of a small ship management company specialising in coastal tanker and Roll-on / Roll-off (Ro-Ro) operations. He rejoined the inspection team in 1994 and is the senior Ship Inspector for the UK Club, charged with maintaining the quality of reporting.

Professional Qualifications
He is a Master mariner, a Member of the Nautical Institute, holds a Diploma in Ship Management, and is a qualified Lead Assessor for ISO 9000 and a qualified Lead Auditor for the ISM Code.

- Officer on a wide variety of vessels – Bulk carriers, Cargo vessels, Tankers, Chemical tankers, Timber ships, & Container ships
- Master of ULCCs, VLCCs, OBOs, Ro-Ros and Passenger vessels
- Marine Consultant and Superintendent, specialising in tanker voyage repairs (including ‘hot work’), FPSOs (Production & Storage tankers) and onboard training of multi-national crews in safe operations and good tanker practice
