The UK Club offers a dedicated team and specialist insurance cover for charterers and traders.   The UK Club’s charterers’ liability product is available to charterers of ships on both time and voyage basis. Cover not only extends to the claims themselves, including fines, associated costs and expenses but includes the costs incurred to avoid and minimise claims.

In the container trades, major shippers' service contracts may contain terms more onerous than the traditional Hague/Visby standard and these usually prejudice Members' P&I insurance. ECC can insure the additional liability assumed by the Member.

Members’ dealings with the Club, both in general terms and specifically on underwriting, claims and loss prevention matters.One of the service initiatives agreed by our Board in the Club’s current Corporate Plan is a service commitment. The terms of this commitment are set out in this document. The service commitment is intended to set out what Members can expect from the Club, in terms of theirdealings generally and on underwriting, claims and loss prevention matters specifically. It provides Memberswith a benchmark against which they can compare the service they receive. The commitment has beenput together based on feedback received from Members on what is important to them in their dealings with the Club. Some of the commitments, for instance payment of claims as quickly as possible, have long been regarded as important. The commitment is to make reimbursement within 10 days of authorisation.  

P&I coverage during post-casualty towage Towage, which is not part of ordinary or customary trading,requires planning. Owners need to consider the risks andunderstand the process required to maintain their P&I coverage

Signum Services Ltd is the investigative arm of Thomas Miller & Co. Ltd and conducts investigations on behalf of the Members of the UK P&I Club.  Signum Services has two investigators who travel the world making inquiries into any criminal activity affecting Club Members. The investigators are ex-senior detectives from the Criminal Investigation Department at New Scotland Yard.
