UK Club Attends Safety Chain Conference in Rome

Finaval hosted a one day conference featuring a number of international speakers representing different links in the Intertanko 'chain of responsibility'.
The conference was opened by Giovanni Fagioli, president of Finaval, who spoke of the inter-relationships and inter-dependence of the various players in the Safety Chain that were crucial to successful ship operations. Other speakers included Bruno Di Lascio, head of quality management of Finaval, Jop Groeneweg of Laiden University, Victor Roggeveem of Advisafe Risk Management and David Cotterell, head of quality assurance, Shell. Karl Lumbers, UK Club's loss prevention director, spoke on the costs of human error. Other speakers included Eilo Pavanetto, head of vetting at Polimeri Europa and Roberto Cazzulo of Registro Italiano Navale. Patrick Adamson of the MTI Network spoke on reputation management and Michael Minogue, president of ECM Maritime spoke on the role of the Qualified Individual and OSRO in the United States.
