The UK Club hosted its 20th Annual UK Club Mountain Climb or "UKMC" on Saturday 29th April at Seowoon Mountain, south of Seoul. The event was attended by 65 friends from the Korean community, including Members, brokers and lawyers. From the managers, Stephen James offered his farewell retirement comments, and Richard Carpenter joined the event from his retirement. Christopher Brown welcomed the group and other managers attending included Peter Lau, Mike Bowen and DY Kim.
The event started informally in 1986 and has since become a tradition in Korea, where the UK Club is honoured to insure about 5 million GT of Korean controlled ships.
A special award was given to Mr Kay Song of Korea Lines Corporation, as the only person to have participated in all twenty UKMC events. The Club also appreciates the efforts of Mr K H Kim of Hyopsung, the UK Club's correspondent since 1968, for his assistance in organising all twenty UKMCs.
