The International Group Representation Sub-Committee meeting at Thomas Miller P&I Ltd's London office. Charles Elmer is standing sixth from the right.
On 22nd November, it was the UK Club's turn to host the biannual meeting of the International Group Representation Sub-Committee. This meeting is attended by representatives of each of the International Group clubs who pool information and expertise on the response to Member's claims incidents and other difficulties arising outside the Club's own country.
The International Group clubs list some 1,700 different organisations as correspondents. The UK P&I Club has approximately 350 listed correspondents, many of whom also act for other Group clubs. It is easy to find any of the Club's correspondents using this website. Simply click on the link "List of Correspondents" which appears at the head of every web page to be re-directed to the correspondents search page. Using the drop down boxes on that page you can search either by port or by country to find all the correspondents listed by the UK P&I Club for that location.
Alternatively, a pdf version of the latest Club Rules & Bye-Laws/List of Correspondents can be found in the Publications section of this website. Once you have opened the pdf in your browser, click on the Bookmarks tab on the top right side of the screen and alphabetically listed clickable links will take you quickly to the necessary section of the Correspondents List.
Charles Elmer is the Correspondents Manager for the UK P&I Club and the primary contact for Members in the event of any service or other issues arising from the involvement of a correspondent.
The Group sub-committee is chaired by Nick Tonge of the North of England Club. The next meeting is scheduled for May next year and will be hosted by the Gard Club in Norway.
