Ningbo Court Judges Visit to London

21st March - 18th April 2001

The Club was delighted to assist in co-ordinating arrangements for the recent visit to London of a delegation of seven Chinese Maritime Judges from the Ningbo Maritime Court. The delegation was led by Professor Feng Li Qi, from Shanghai Maritime University and Executive Council Member of CMI.

The purpose of the trip was to enable the judges to gain a greater understanding of the English judicial system. During the trip the judges met a wide range of people from the English Maritime Legal, Insurance and P&I community.

One of the highlights of the visit was a presentation given by the judges at the Club's offices on the 17th April. The presentation gave an overview of the maritime judicial system in China. It was attended by a number of senior figures from the Club as well as a number of lawyers from some of the English maritime law firms.

The Club was delighted to host this event and to assist in co-ordinating the visit. The judges extended particular thanks to Herry Lawford and Daniel Lee who co-ordinated the four-week programme.
