On 22nd May 2003, 20 graduates of the IMO International Maritime Law Institute (IMLI) LLM Course led by Professor David Attard (Director IMLI) visited the UK Club during their field trip to London. The graduates had received their graduation certificates from Mr William O'Neil, Secretary General of IMO, in Malta after an intensive nine month post-graduate course in International Maritime Law.
In addition to the lectures given in International House on various topics including the Baltic Exchange and Maritime London, the graduates visited Lloyd's (courtesy of Miller Marine). In the evening the group cruised on the Thames on board the 'Salient'. Guests included Dr Rosalie Balkin (Dir. Legal Affairs and External Regulations - IMO), Mr Gaetano Librando (Senior Legal Officer, IMO), Professor Francis Reynolds (Oxford), Dr Aleka Mandraka-Sheppard (UCL and Director of the London Shipping Law Centre) and David Martin-Clark, Arbitrator and Mediator.
