Posidonia Open Day 2008

Posidonia 2008 is just a few months away. The event is renowned for the quality of the technical exhibition itself and the numerous supporting events. Our colleagues at the Thomas Miller (Hellas) office will hold an open day on Thursday 5th June.

The open day begins at 12.00hrs and runs through until 18.00hrs providing Members with an ideal opportunity of visiting our office and meeting many of our Greece based colleagues as well as some visiting from London.

We have been delighted by the overwhelming response to our invitation in previous Posidonias. More than 400 Members, brokers and other friends visited the Piraeus office during the course of the day in 2006. Our Members were able to experience the office at first hand whilst meeting the Club team of claims handlers, managers and support staff. Refreshments followed the traditional formula of a barbeque and sushi on the balcony offering one of the best harbour views in Piraeus.

The Hellas office is easy to find as it is located on Akti Miaouli directly opposite the cruise ship terminal in the same building as HSBC. However, on the day the UK P&I Club banner across the balcony is likely to be more conspicuous.

The Hellas office has developed significantly since its opening in 1996. There are now eleven claims handlers in the Piraeus office with a wide variety of legal and practical shipping experience. Tony Fielder is the Senior Claims Specialist and Philip Clacy has overall responsibility for the office. The executive claims staff offer specific assistance on all types of P&I and Defence claims to the significant proportion of the Club Membership serviced by the Piraeus office. All staff are bilingual in English and Greek.

The Hellas office regularly produces its own newsletter addressing issues of interest to the Greek shipping community at home and abroad.
