Questions on cover

Extended cargo

Clear and explicit guidance on Club cover is one of the priorities of our communication. Whilst it is always recommended that Members contact their usual Club contact on individual questions of cover we endeavour to support the need for general information through the website.

In addition to the cover described under the Rules & Bye-Laws service leaflets are published on cover topics. For example, the Extended Cargo Cover (ECC) is an insurance for Members' cargo liabilities that fall outside the scope of standard P&I cover.

This leaflet presents at a glance the risks insured under ECC - including the limits of coverage and terms and conditions - and indicates how ECC works with the standard P&I insurance. It also serves as a guide for the Members in deciding whether they need ECC for their cargo related operations. ECC is a flexible product which is adjustable to suit Members' special needs so the brochure is a first reference on the cover before Members contact the Club to discuss their particular requirements.

The Club’s Circulars provide important updates and guidance on cover related issues and all circulars issued by the Club since 1995 can be found on this website.

More general explanation of the essentials of the Club cover can be found in the What is P&I? section. This section provides a description of the key heads of P&I cover. Over twenty areas of P&I risk are covered in this section.

Where a more detailed query needs to be pursued the Club website has a search facility which scans all the pages and documents on the site for information relevant to the user’s interest. Such a search will collate together information from both the cover materials and also other areas such as loss prevention documents.

Access to essential information on a round the clock basis was one of the key benefits for Members that inspired the creation of this website. Furnishing our Members with a better understanding of cover is one of those essentials.
