Public holidays in Asia
Our offices in Tokyo, Hong Kong, Shanghai & Beijing will be closed on Monday 15th September.
This day is a public holiday in both China and Japan in respect of different celebrations.
In China the national holiday is in recognition of the Mid-Autumn festival which falls on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month of the Chinese calendar (usually around mid- or late-September in the Gregorian calendar). Traditionally, farmers have celebrated the end of the summer harvesting season on this date when the moon is at its fullest and brightest.
In Japan, the third Monday in September is Respect the Aged Day which honours the elderly citizens of the country.
Out of hours contacts will continue to be available at all these offices during this period. The Emergency Contacts Quicklink which appears at the head of every page on this website enables these details to be found quickly.
Additional after office hours contact numbers for Shanghai can be found here.
The Singapore office will remain open on the 15th September.
Another, more personal, celebration taking place on Friday 12th September is the 90th anniversary of the founding of Chadwick Weir, the UK Club’s correspondent in Uruguay. More details of their long history can be found via the weblink above.
Our congratulations and thanks to them for their continued support to our Members.
