Special General Meeting – 18th February
At its meeting on 1st February 2010, the Board considered the terms of the Anti-Terrorism (Financial and Other Measures) Amendment Act 2009, which came into effect in Bermuda on 15th January 2010, and the potential risks to the Association associated with any prohibition which might be imposed on the Association under such legislation.
The Board recommends the adoption of an amendment to the Rules as a precautionary measure for the 2010 Policy Year only, while it obtains further advice as to how best protect the interests of the Club and all its Members, including those who may be impacted by any such action.
A Special General Meeting will be held in Bermuda on 18 February 2010 at 10:00 a.m. to adopt such an amendment for the 2010 policy year only. Circular 1/10 provides a fuller explanation together with a formal notice of the meeting and the resolution detailing the proposed Rule change.
Also included is a specially prepared proxy form to enable non-attending Members to submit their vote on the resolution. These proxy forms, once duly signed, can be scanned & emailed to the Club Secretary in Bermuda (david.hunter@thomasmiller.com), or alternatively faxed to him at +1 44 1292 3694
Completed proxy forms should be with the Secretary at least 12 hours before the meeting on 18th February 2010.
Three further circulars have been issued this week in respect of War Risks P&I Cover; 2010 Reinsurance Arrangements; and US Oil Voyage Surcharge Rates. These can also be found in the Club Circulars section of this website.
Among the various entities in China who might assist Members in complying with the new oil pollution regulations is China Marine Services Co. Ltd. (CMS) a joint venture between the China Classification Society Industrial Corporation and Thomas Miller. Over the last 10 years, CMS has gained considerable expertise and experience in pollution matters in China and has become well known to the MSA and to Chinese oil spill contractors.
