Working for you
The commonality of interest between Member and insurer is the essence of the mutual model.
The UK Club uses its leading position to pursue its Members interests. It has consistently used its influence as one of the largest clubs in the International Group to ensure protection and indemnity insurance has developed to keep pace with industry changes whilst preserving the interests of its Members.
Equity between Members and a strong service ethic have characterised the operation of the UK P&I club at every level. A dedicated and active Board of Directors elected from across the membership represents its different nationalities and sectors. This Board can draw on this breadth of experience and expertise to inform its decision making at the highest level.
The UK Club intends to remain mutual and maintain a strong voice on maritime matters long into the future.

As a mutual, the Club takes a positive, co-operative attitude towards its Members’ claims. The wide spread of international offices and staff makes it sensitive to the needs of different regional and trade areas.
We pride ourselves on first-rate service levels to Members and have no hesitation in inviting rigorous third party assessment of our performance. The growing practice among our Members of applying the ISO 9001 standard to their own businesses is further encouragement to achieving high standards which are generally recognised to facilitate the conduct of business.
Recently, Thomas Miller successfully completed its re-certification audit under the international quality management system standard ISO 9001:2000. This marks the beginning of a third three-year period of certification. The standard is designed to ensure that companies focus their management systems on meeting the needs and service requirements of customers.
The audit process includes the Club's network of regional and local offices. To reach the high standards required by ISO 9001:2000, Millers has to demonstrate how all elements of its management work together to meet Member requirements. This includes linking business objectives with regional and local targets and individual performance standards; having consistent working practices; identifying training needs; and listening and acting on Member feedback on performance.
In addition to comprehensive mutual P&I insurance, the UK Club can offer tailored cover for additional operations and liabilities.
