Nick is the Syndicate Manager for L2 which is responsible for providing P&I and Defence claims and advisory services from London to Members based in Greece, Italy and the UK.
Nick was called to the Bar in 1994. After a short period of practice in a Common Law set he joined Thomas Miller in Piraeus in 1999 having previously worked in a local bulk ship operating company and the Greek office of a well-known marine litigation firm. He handled P&I and Defence matters for the Greek and Cypriot membership and became the Deputy Syndicate Manager of the Piraeus office in September 2014. He transferred to London in June 2015 to take up the position of Syndicate Manager for LS2. Nick is fluent in English and Greek and has conversational French.
Amy Lovseth joined Thomas Miller (Americas) as a claims executive in June 2004 after completing a LL.M. in Maritime Law from the University of Oslo in Norway. While in Norway, Amy worked as a trainee at Wiikborg Rein and in the law department at Norsk Hydro.
Amy was made Vice president in 2010 and handles claims for both the UK P&I Club and the UK Defence Club. She has recently joined LS2 from New Jersey.
Richard joined Thomas Miller in 1985 having previously worked with solicitors. His work has been with South American, London-based Greek, Monegasque, Italian and Spanish Members.
Lyall joined Thomas Miller in June 2012 from the shipping department of a leading London solicitor, where he was a Senior Associate.
Lyall is dual qualified as a lawyer in both England and Australia. Lyall has over 15 years’ experience handling a wide range of P&I and Defence related claims and disputes. Lyall also has considerable experience with piracy and war risk insurance having been the Claims and Legal Manager for Hellenic War Risks Club and UK War Risks Club for 4 years. His main responsibilities are claims management, claims consultancy, general claims advice and is part of the Professional Supplier Management team.
Alex joined Thomas Miller as a Claims Executive in December 2016 from Ince & Co.’s office in Monaco, where he worked for two years as a Solicitor specialising in shipping and corporate litigation. Prior to this, Alex worked as a Claims Executive at the Standard P&I Club in London. Whilst there, he worked on all types of P&I, FD&D, DTH and TT claims for Turkish, Italian and Monegasque ship owners and operators. Alex joined the Standard Club having graduated from studying Law and Jurisprudence at the University of Southampton.
Alex was made Senior Claims Executive in May 2017 and handles claims for both the UK P&I Club and the UK Defence Club, predominantly focusing on the German Team (L1) in the London office.
He is currently on secondment at the Piraeus office.
Stephen joined Thomas Miller in 2009 having spent 18 years with another London based P&I Club. He handles a wide variety of people related claims with a focus on Members based in Greece, Italy and the UK. Stephen qualified as a member of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers in 2003.
George joined Thomas Miller as a claims handler in 2015 having previously obtained a First Class Honours LLB as an undergraduate in London. He handles an increasingly diverse range of P&I and some FD&D matters for the Greek, Italian and UK based Members
Karen joined Thomas Miller in 1977 as a Filing Clerk in Syndicate 4. She later became a syndicate secretary, working principally for Lance Hebert.
In 1989, she transferred to the personal injury syndicate where she worked for Phil Nichols, the syndicate manager. During her time working with Phil Nichols her varied career included organising the UK Club’s Cruise Conferences, the UK P&I Club Correspondent Network, the Service Department and the Quality Team assisting with the introduction of the LRQA EQS System.
In 2011 Karen returned to the People Claims Department as Team Secretary where she continues to assist the Senior Claim Directors in addition to her role as P&I file audit co-ordinator. Karen also provides secretarial support to Synidcate L2.
