Jim qualified as a solicitor in 1995 and has been involved in maritime law for almost the whole of his subsequent career. He has previously been a partner in a London niche shipping law firm, and has also worked in the Piraeus office of a major law firm, mainly advising Greek owners. Jim is a Senior Claims Director in the UK Defence Club, and in addition to management of his own claims advises junior colleagues on claims strategy in FD&D disputes.
Mark is a former Merchant Navy deck officer sailing on a variety of vessel types including product tankers, container ships, general cargo, reefer, Ro-Ro and seismic survey ships. Mark worked with another International Group P&I Club for a number of years and was the Manager of the Admiralty Claims team. In 2010 Mark joined a leading London law firm as an Admiralty Manager where he was involved in attending and investigating casualties including salvage, fires, cargo explosions, collisions, property damage claims, groundings, unsafe ports, damage to submarine cables, cargo liquefaction and piracy. Mark joined Thomas Miller in 2014 and is Senior Claims Director for London Syndicate L4.
Laura is a qualified solicitor and joined Thomas Miller as a Senior Claims Executive in January 2016 after 12 years in private practice. Handling both P&I and Defence cases, Laura assists all Members within L4, with a particular focus on South East Asia.
Hannah is a qualified solicitor, specialising in shipping law. Hannah trained and then worked with a London firm focused in the maritime sector for 18 months post qualification before joining another International Group Club, where she worked for 4 years handling both P&I and defence matters for members in the UK, the Americas and Northern Europe. Hannah holds a degree in French and Spanish.
Francesco is an English qualified solicitor and has worked and trained at a leading London shipping firm for nearly nine years, where he dealt with both FD&D and P&I related claims. Francesco is fluent in both English and Italian. Francesco joined Thomas Miller in June 2016 and is a Senior Claims Executive, providing P&I and Defence claims and advisory services to Members in L4.
Karolina joined the UK Club in January 2017. She handles P&I and FD&D claims for Syndicate L4. She is a qualified English solicitor and Merchant Navy Deck Officer of the Watch Unlimited. She served as a Deck Cadet on variety of cargo and passenger ships worldwide. She speaks fluent Polish and basic German.
Mikaela joined Thomas Miller in 2015 after completing her BSc (Hons) degree in Psychology. She is currently working as a Claims Executive in Syndicate L4, handling a range of P&I matters for Members. Mikaela speaks Swedish and is currently studying for her P&IQ, accredited by the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII).
Robert joined Thomas Miller in June 2018 and is primarily handling P&I cases in the L4 team as a Claims Executive. Previously he spent 10 years in ship operations and vetting roles. Before this Robert was at sea for 13 years sailing on a range of ship and cargo types. He has experience on a variety of product and crude tankers along with LNG carriers undertaking roles up to the rank of Chief Officer and holds a Master Mariners certificate.
