Aki joined Thomas Miller in 2004. She was on secondment to the New Jersey office and the Tokyo office before moving back to London in 2013. She is a qualified solicitor having worked for a major maritime law firm in London and is responsible for the handling of claims for Japanese Members. Aki speaks Japanese and is a director of Thomas Miller.
Andrew joined Thomas Miller as Financial Controller of UK P&I Club from Big 4 accounting firm KPMG, where he had specialised in the insurance sector.
With effect from 1 June 2018, Andrew was appointed Chief Executive Officer for the UK P&I Club.
With effect from 1 July 2014, Andrew was appointed Chief Financial Officer for the UK P&I Club. He was appointed as a Director of the UK P&I Club's subsidiary undertaking, UK Europe, from the same date.
David Thompson joined Signum Services in January 2013 following his retirement from the Metropolitan Police. In his 30 year career as a detective David specialised in the investigation of serious and complex crimes and served at various locations throughout London and at New Scotland Yard.
Francesco is an English qualified solicitor and has worked and trained at a leading London shipping firm for nearly nine years, where he dealt with both FD&D and P&I related claims. Francesco is fluent in both English and Italian. Francesco joined Thomas Miller in June 2016 and is a Senior Claims Executive, providing P&I and Defence claims and advisory services to Members in L4.
Jacqueline is a qualified barrister and solicitor and handles FDD and P&I cases, as well as editor of the Club’s legal publications. She is a Director of Claims at Thomas Miller and also a member of the Club’s Legal and Environmental Teams. Jacqueline speaks Malay, French and Hokkien.
John worked for a ship agent, a shipowner and as Club correspondent in Ireland before joining Thomas Miller P&I in 1987. He currently manages London Syndicate 3, the people claims syndicate, and is responsible for the team’s operational performance and service delivery. He also sits on the Senior Claims Directors’ team, a team of senior claims executives who have the task of working alongside case executives on the resolution of major claims which account for 70 per cent of the Club’s claims payments.
Throughout his career at Thomas Miller, John has worked closely with Members involved in the cruise and ferry sectors and has particular expertise in handling passenger ship casualties and cruise curtailment claims.
Karen joined Thomas Miller in 1977 as a Filing Clerk in Syndicate 4. She later became a syndicate secretary, working principally for Lance Hebert.
In 1989, she transferred to the personal injury syndicate where she worked for Phil Nichols, the syndicate manager. During her time working with Phil Nichols her varied career included organising the UK Club’s Cruise Conferences, the UK P&I Club Correspondent Network, the Service Department and the Quality Team assisting with the introduction of the LRQA EQS System.
In 2011 Karen returned to the People Claims Department as Team Secretary where she continues to assist the Senior Claim Directors in addition to her role as P&I file audit co-ordinator.
