今年の「Play for Pink」ゴルフデーには、約180人の参加者が集い、乳がん研究財団に250,000ドルの寄付を行いました。
Every year Thomas Miller holds a charity golf day in New Jersey to raise money for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. We are very proud to announce that, like the past three events, this year’s golfing day was a big success.
Around 180 players gathered for the ‘Play for Pink’ golf day at the Forsgate Country Club in New Jersey where they raised a staggering $250,000 for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. The UK P&I and TT Clubs have now raised $750,000 for charity through the Play for Pink golf days over the last four years.
Mike Jarrett, president of Thomas Miller Americas, said: “We are proud to be able to bring together the maritime community in North America to help research into the eradication of breast cancer — a blight that has touched us all either directly or indirectly.”
This year’s event welcomed special guest Dan Boever – senior world long-drive champion – who supported the cause by wearing a pink shirt. He also wowed the other players with a variety of trick shots, not to mention a long drive or two!
The entertainment wasn’t limited to the course however as UK P&I Club loss prevention Director Stuart Edmonston welcomed the golfers to the event, and later dinner with bagpipes.
Thomas Miller are very grateful to all those who attended and would like to thank the shipping industry who generously donated the raffle prizes, as this was instrumental in such a large sum for the BCRF.
This year, Paul Hehir of Royal Caribbean Cruises donated a cruise to Alaska. George Chalos of Chalos & Co offered two weekends in Park City, Utah, while Skip Keesal of Keesal Young & Logan contributed Long Beach Grand Prix tickets, including return airfare.
Mike Jarrett is already thinking about next year’s event. “And we look forward to even greater participation in support of this tremendously worthwhile charity next year.”
