LSA Pocket Checklist
The Life Saving Appliances Pocket Checklist identifies the most common causes of ship detention and is widely acknowledged as a useful tool in helping owners and operators to comply with convention requirements and thereby reduce the risk of their ships being detained.
This app enables you to view necessary legislative and regulatory requirements, save multiple checklists, check off completed activities, add essential notes/images and send the completed checklists via email.
The Port State Control Pocket Checklist
The Port State Control pocket checklist app is designed as an aide-mémoire to supplement owners' operational and maintenance procedures, and should be used in conjunction with other guides in this series. Conveniently organised by distinct ship area, the checklist identifies the top fifty most common causes of ship detention. The checklist app is particularly useful when incorporated into pre-arrival checks, to ensure consideration has been given to all areas a PSC inspector will be concerned with.
The Marine Fire Safety Pocket Checklist
The Marine Fire Safety pocket checklist app aims to reduce the risk of fire and explosion at sea, which in turn will help save lives and reduce the damage to cargo. Fire is one of the most expensive sources of cargo liability claims across the shipping industry. This app helps Members focus on those areas which give most cause for concern.
The Marine Pollution Prevention Pocket Checklist
The Marine pollution prevention pocket checklist app can help masters and owners comply with the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships 1973, as amended by MARPOL 73/78. With a detailed list of areas that must be up to standard and covering areas where operational deficiencies are frequently found, it should help to reduce the risk of port state control (PSC) detentions.
No Room for Risk
The UK P&I Club has launched the No Room for Risk app, including a 14 minute video introduction to the Club’s highly successful risk management project. Aimed at helping Members focus on those causes of claims which cost them the most money, No Room for Risk explains the methodology behind the project and how it is being carried out by its team of senior risk assessors. The app also includes a number of useful documents to help Members reduce their claims.
ISM & ISPS Pocket Checklist
LLoyd's Register and the UK P&I Club have launched a new ISM & ISPS pocket checklist app. Users can now save multiple checklists, add essential notes and send the completed checklists via email.
Port State Control detentions due to ISM failures are becoming more common as the authorities are grouping deficiencies together to justify detaining the ship. The objectives of the Internationsal Safety Management (ISM) Code are to ensure safety at sea, prevention of human injury or loss of life, and avoidance of damage to the enviroment and property. The objectives of the ISPS Code are to ensure security of ships and port facilities. The company is responsible for implementing an effective safety and security management system to ensure these objectives are met. By doing this, the risk to the fleet can be minimised and avoid costly fines and Port State Control detentions.
With the new app, ships' crews and their managers will be able to view the requirements of ISM & ISPS legislation and check off key activities as and when they are completed.

The ILO MLC Smartphone App aims to help owners, operators and crew comply with the Marine Labour Convention which came into force in August 2013.
Non compliance with the requirements of the convention will result in port state control (PSC) detentions.
To help reduce the risk of detentions, this app serves as an interactive checklist that enables ship operators to view the requirements on the ILO MLC and check activities off as they are completed.
