人身クレームセミナー2018

 2018年10月3日、当クラブのニュージャージーオフィスは第14回人身クレームセミナーを開催しました。今年のテーマは「It's all in your head」で、特に外傷性脳損傷および心的外傷後ストレス障害（PTSD)クレームに焦点を当てています。

On 3rd October 2018, the New Jersey office hosted its 14th Annual Bodily Injury Seminar.  The theme of this year's seminar was "It's all in your head" with specific focus on traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress claims.  

Approximately twenty Members representing all vessel types attended the seminar to listen to experts talk on topics including preparing witnesses to testify at depositions and trial; traumatic brain injuries - law and strategy; defending post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) claims; and understanding and defending life care plans.

The luncheon speaker this year was Stuart Edmonston, the Club's Director of Loss Prevention, whose talk focused on recent loss prevention initiatives at the Club.

An afternoon break-out session tasked the different groups with putting a US$ value on a scenario based on a claim which was previously handled by the Club. This exercise highlighted the difficulty in estimating bodily injury claims on a most likely outcome basis, given the complexity of the US jury system, the various types of damages to be taken into account, as well as the plaintiff's prior medical history. 

The seminar is an opportunity for the Club to share its legal expertise and knowledge with our Members in an engaging and interactive way. The Bodily Injury Team is a unique Center of Excellence which helps the UK Club's Members reduce or mitigate these potentially high-value claims in the US through face-to-face discussions with Members and preferred attorneys to develop case strategies and achieve cost-effective case resolution.
