190 - 05/01 - Carriage of Bananas from Ecuadorian Ports

Trulli
There have been problems recently with the carriage of bananas from Ecuador.

Overripe, spotted bananas are commonly found mixed in the same cartons with sound, green ones. The cargoes concerned were carried at the correct temperature and there were no delays during the voyages in question, all of which points to the problem being of preshipment origin. It is therefore strongly recommended that preloading surveys are carried out in respect of any banana shipments from Ecuadorian ports and particularly Guayaquil.
