699 - 06/10 - Adoption of MARPOL VI Amdts - North Sea/Baltic

The Association would like to remind members that amendments to MARPOL Annex VI concerning the prevention of air pollution from ships will come into force on 1st July 2010.

The amendments, adopted through the Marine Environment Protection Committee (MEPC), stipulate that the sulphur content of any fuel used in the Baltic and North Sea Emission Control Areas (ECA's) shall not exceed 1.00%.
