BWMC 2004- Update September 2016

The BWMC 2004 stipulates that it will enter into force 12 months after ratification by a minimum of 30 States, representing 35% of world merchant shipping tonnage.  

The IMO has announced that the Convention will enter into force on 8th September 2017 after Finland's ratification of the treaty brings the combined tonnage of contracting States to 35.1441%.
