Every year, the UK P&I Club supports several charities, usually with a maritime connection. As usual in place of Christmas cards the Club is making a donation to two chosen charities.

Those selected are the Mission to Seafarers and Mercy Ships. 

The Mission to Seafarers was founded in 1856 and work in over 260 ports caring for seafarers of all ranks, nationalities and beliefs. Through that global network of chaplains, staff and volunteers they offer practical, emotional and spiritual support to seafarers through ship visits, drop-in centres and a range of welfare and emergency support services. 

Mercy Ships operates the largest charity-run hospital ship in the world, delivering free, safe medical care to some of the world's least-developed countries, where people cannot access the care they urgently need. This "floating hospital" is staffed almost entirely by volunteers, who give their expertise for free to help treat dental and eye problems, cleft lips and palates, tumours, club feet, childbirth injuries, burns and a variety of other conditions.

Since 1978, Mercy Ships has visited more than 55 developing nations, providing services worth more than £1 billion that have directly helped more than 2.5 million people.

These are just two of the charities the Club works closely with. The Club also supports The Sailors' Society and the International Maritime Rescue Federation.  On our dedicated CSR page you can find further information regarding the programmes that the Club is sponsoring, and how we are engaging with our chosen charities.
