OIL POLLUTION IN THE UNITED STATES

TANKER VOYAGE ADDITIONAL PREMIUM SYSTEM - 2000 POLICY YEAR

The additional premium system for tankers carrying persistent oil to or from the United States will continue for the 2000 policy year. The new rates, which represent a reduction on 1999, are set out below. In addition the minimum tonnage threshold is reduced from 3,000 gt to 1,000 gt (see (B) below). As before a lower rate per entered ton will apply to tankers equipped with segregated ballast tanks (SBT) in accordance with the requirements of Regulation 13 of Annex 1 to MARPOL 73/78.

  LOOP or lightening U.S. $0.0425 U.S. $0.0375 per entered ton, each U.S. voyage.
(B) Tankers of 1,000 gt or less  Either U.S. $85 U.S. $75 each U.S. voyage
    or U.S. $1,700 U.S. $1,500 per annum.
(C) Parcel tankers carrying 5,000 m/t or less of persistent oil as cargo U.S. $255 U.S. $225 each U.S. voyage.
         
(D) Parcel tankers carrying between 5,001 and 10,000 m/t of persistent oil as cargo U.S. $640 U.S. $560 each U.S. voyage.
         
(E) Parcel tankers carrying more than 10,000 m/t of persistent oil as cargo U.S. $0.085 U.S. $0.075 per entered ton, each U.S. voyage.

Otherwise the terms are unchanged. The U.S. Oil Pollution clause 20/2/00 reflecting the above rates will be set out in an Appendix to the Rules and will be incorporated, by reference, in the certificates of entry.
