The Relics of Saint Helena have arrived in Athens for the first time, having made the historical journey from their permanent home in the Vatican museums.

The Relics were sailed into Piraeus harbour on their way to the Church of Agia Varvara, where they will be open to visitors from May 14 – June 15.

This is the first time the relics have left Italy in almost 1700 years.

The UK P&I Club office in Piraeus were on hand to capture the historical moment on camera as the relics sailed into Piraeus harbour on Sunday afternoon.
