The Indian Directorate General of Shipping issued Order No.05 of 2019 on 16th October 2019. This order prohibits the use of single use plastic items on board. The requirements apply to all Indian and foreign flagged ships while in Indian territorial waters.

The Club’s South African correspondents, P&I Associates South Africa, have provided an update on stowaways in South African ports. On Monday 19 August, the Senior Immigration Officer in Durban advised that as of immediate effect, no stowaways would be permitted to be landed in South Africa.
On September 1 2019, any vessel larger than 1,100 feet will no longer have open access to the Houston Ship Channel (HSC) absent approval by the newly authorized and independent Board of Pilot Commissioners for Harris County Ports.
This circular informs Members of a recent ban imposed by the South Korean authority on their nationals travelling to the Philippine. This may have some implications for those vessels that are scheduled to trade to ports in certain regions of the Philippine, mostly known for nickel ore export.
The Club’s Indonesian Correspondents, SPICA, have advised that every ship sailing in Indonesian territorial waters are now required to install and activate an automatic identification system (AIS). The regulation will take effect from 20 August 2019.
