UK P&I and UK Defence Club broker evening in Piraeus (September 2010)
The Club Chairman, Mr Dinos Caroussis of Chios Navigation, welcomed the Greek marine broking community to a social evening together with Thomas Miller (Hellas) Ltd. and colleagues from Thomas Miller P&I and Defence at the Piraeus Sailing Club in Mikrolimano, this week.
Thomas Miller P&I chairman Luke Readman and chief executive Hugo Wynn-Williams attended from London and provided a brief update on the promising developments of this latest Club year, both financial and operational.
Over 40 brokers engaged in the Greek market attended the evening on the 21st September hosted by the Piraeus based claims team H1 together with underwriting colleagues from London.
It was an excellent opportunity for our broker friends to meet the full Greek service and support of the Club including the new regional director, Daniel Evans, senior underwriting directors Paul Collier and Mark Mathews
Situated at the end of the Mikrolimano breakwater the venue offered a panoramic view of the Mediterranean as well as the the yacht harbour and beyond to Athens and Glyfada. Everyone gathered in the early evening to enjoy drinks and a buffet supper whilst the sun set.

The UK P&I Club, one of the leading providers of P&I insurance and other services to the international shipping community, has appointed William Beveridge as its new Chief Underwriting Officer. He joins the UK Club on completion of his current employment obligations.
The Club was joined by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) and MidOcean Wind for presentations and discussion focusing on an overview of the U.S
The Club’s financial position remains strong with free reserves of $488 million as at 20 February 2022. The Club continues to comfortably meet all its regulatory capital requirements and remains in the highest AAA band of Standard & Poor’s capital model.
Financial position and reserves remain robust.
