UK Club hosts Dubai Seminar
The UK P&I Club and the UK Defence Club hosted a Risk Management Seminar in Dubai on 27th November 2013 at the Palace Hotel.
Following a run through of the Club’s history in the Middle East by Senior Underwriting Director, Jason Riley, delegates were updated in respect of the Club’s continuing financial strength by Deputy Chairman, Nigel Carden.
Sumit Madhu, spoke about the Club’s role in casualty management. Jim Roberts then asked whether there was an alternative in the Middle East to London Arbitration.
Senior Claims executive, Stephen Michaels discussed the Club’s Pre Employment Medical Examination Programme.
Nigel Carden rounded off the afternoon by highlighting the risks and liabilities associated with LNG Carriers.
Following a brief Q&A session, delegates moved to the Viewing Deck for drinks and canapés, and where excitement was already building in view Dubai was shortlisted to host the World Expo Trade Convention in 2020. At around 9pm, fireworks exploded from the Burj Khalifa, following announcement in Paris that Dubai will be the first Middle Eastern city to hold the Expo, which takes place every five years.
