Posidonia - keeps getting bigger
Posidonia started back in 1969 under the patronage of Greek shipowners and has grown dramatically since. This year the exhibition attracted 22,000 people with 1,800 exhibitors from 90 countries. The exhibition is hosted at the Metropolitan Expo - four halls packed with shipping's finest!
The week kicked off on the 3rd June with the Posidonia Cup - more than 50 boats participated in the 8th sailing regatta. The UK P&I and UK Defence Clubs took part in the Performance category, and their crew of staff, members and an Olympian managed a respectable 9th out of 23, sailing on the yacht Aristofani.
The Thomas Miller reception traditionally comes towards the end of the exhibition week and this year Thomas Miller (Hellas) Ltd were determined to fit as many visitors as possible into the office. It wasn't only the desks, which were dismantled and removed to make way for the food, some internal walls were also taken down for the event! Which was a god job as we needed the space, this year an estimated 900 -1000 visitors attended in an almost constant stream of guests. The food was excellent and plentiful, with over 4,000 pieces of sushi consumed during the day and nearly as many ice creams! On Thursday 9th June from 12 :00- 19:00, we were delighted to welcome so many Members, Brokers, lawyers and correspondents to the office. We look forward to seeing you all again at the 2018 event.
