Pollution issues seminar- Shanghai
The UK Club hosted a Seminar on the latest Pollution issues that are affecting shipping in the Park Hyatt Hotel, Shanghai on Thursday 25th October.
Andrew Jones, Asia Pacific Regional Director, gave a welcome and introduction speech to the 80 guests before handing over to each of the three speakers. Firstly Ms Yang Zhihui from the Chinese Ship-source Oil Pollution Compensation Settlement Centre (COPC Fund) provided an overview of the operation of her organisation and the future developments and enhancements that are envisaged. Next, Mr David Barry of Gallagher Marine Systems Inc spoke about the Current Issues Impacting Ships calling to US Ports from a pollution perspective, and finally the UK Club's Legal Director, Dr Chao Wu spoke on Local and International Pollution Developments and Challenges.
Also in attendance from the Club were Peter Jones and Dinjing Huang from the Asia Pacific Underwriting Team, Sean Geraghty from the Hong Kong Claims Team, and James Zhang and Edgar Wong from the Shanghai office. Afterwards, conversation continued over drinks and a light buffet set against the spectacular backdrop of Shanghai at night.
