Investing in a Safer Tomorrow - A celebration of our winners
2019 marks the 150th anniversary of the foundation of the UK P&I Club. It is an outstanding achievement for our Club to reach this landmark and demonstrates our commitment to our Members and the shipping world, and our market leading service.
As part of the celebrations, the Club organised a competition, "Investing in a Safer Tomorrow" which challenged a new generation of young seafarers and upcoming shipping professionals from around the world to identity fresh safety initiatives. Over 200 entries were received - the winner and the finalists are honoured here in this commemorative book.
Our panel of industry judges certainly had a big task on their hands, to progress ten entries to the final stage. Their entries were selected on criteria such as originality, relevancy and simplicity.
It gives us great pleasure to mark their innovation, drive and passion here, and to thank everyone who entered this very exciting and challenging competition. We feel sure the next 150 years are in safe hands.
This global safety competition to mark our 150th Anniversary is just the first of many initiatives. Going forward, the Club will continue to champion best industry practice and invest in innovation. We will always focus on what we do best: managing risk, preventing loss and enhancing safety at sea.
