Public Holiday Japan 27th April - 6th May 2019
The current Japanese Emperor, Akihito is scheduled to abdicate on 30th April 30, followed by the ascension to the throne of the Crown Prince Naruhito on 1st May. As a result, the new era name of “Reiwa” will begin and Heisei will end on midnight on 30th April. “Reiwa” derived from the “Manyoshu” Japan’s oldest poetry collection dating back to the Nara period (710-784).
The event will mark an unprecedented, consecutive 10-day holiday in Japan from 27th April to 6th May.
The Japan Branch will be therefore closed during this period.
