Hellas HiLights September 2010

Trulli

Our Club Chairman, Mr Dinos Caroussis of Chios Navigation, welcomed over forty members of the Greek marine broking community to a social evening at the Piraeus Sailing Club in Mikrolimano, this week. It enabled our broker friends to meet the full Greek service and support of the Club including our new regional director, Daniel Evans, senior underwriting directors Paul Collier and Mark Mathews

This September 2010 edition of our Piraeus office newsletter HiLights reports on those service and support arrangements, in particular Daniel Evans appointment as Thomas Miller's Regional Director for Greece.

Daniel's strategic role co-ordinates service and support for Greek Members of the UK P&I Club and UK Defence Club from the London and Piraeus offices. He has been heavily involved in the Greek market since joining Thomas Miller in 1992 including time as Area Director, based in Piraeus until 2003. Further details are also available in the press release "Thomas Miller strengthens Greece operations".

Other items reported in the latest HiLights include the tenth anniversary of Thomas Miller (Hellas) at its Akti Miaouli office, Member enquiries on archipelagic sea lanes and the forthcoming UK Defence club event

Thomas Miller has a team of 26 claims handlers and underwriters in Piraeus and London supporting Greek Members in both clubs. Rod Lingard has headed the Thomas Miller Hellas operation since 2009 while his predecessor, Philip Clacy, leads the London-based Syndicate 2, supporting Greek controlled tonnage whose Members prefer to manage their insurance affairs in London.
