It is normal to find strict smoking policies on tankers and other types of ships. The operator of one UK Club ship supplies its tankers with free safety matches, to be used in designated smoking rooms only. The matchboxes are large and too big for crew pockets, so they shouldn't be accidentally taken on deck or in the engine room.
