189 - 05/01 - Fuel Oil - Ex St Petersburg - High H2S Content

Trulli
One of the Club's Members is presently having problems with a cargo of fuel oil in Rotterdam. The

H2S content is too high to discharge.

The cargo, loaded in St Petersburg from barges (transhipped we understand from the Volga region), has an H2S content of 25 ppm whereas the terminal will only accept 5 ppm. The sample given to the ship from the barge shows a level of >0.5 ppm. The manifold sample taken at the commencement of loading shows 19 ppm.We understand two other ships are on passage at the present time and another is presently loading in St Petersburg with cargo from the same source.Members loading fuel oil at St Petersburg are advised to have shore analysis carried out prior to loading until further notice to ensure H2S levels are acceptable.Source of Information : Peter Paterson (S1)
