202 - 08/01 - Inspection of Bulk Carriers in Brazilian Ports

Throughout the months of August and September the Brazilian Directorate of Ports and Coasts (DPC)  who enforce Port State Control will be concentrating their inspections in all Brazilian ports on bulk carriers in excess of 20,000 gt and more than 15 years of age. If any deficiencies are discovered the offending ship will be prevented from sailing until the problem has been rectified. The intention of this directive is to reduce "marine disasters."
