852 - 10/12 - Shortage of bagged goods - West Africa

Trulli
Excessive shortages of bagged cargoes are being noted upon discharge in West Africa ports by vessels loaded in India.

It has been reported to the Club that several vessels discharging rice in various West African ports have noted shortages of between 3000 and 5000 bags per vessel. After a brief investigation into the matter it seems that all affected vessels were loaded in Kakinada, India.

The Club would like to remind members to remain vigilant when loading bagged cargo in Indian ports and also during discharge operations so that the most accurate figures can be recorded.
