ISO 15189 encompasses particular requirements for quality and competence and specifies the quality management system requirements particular to medical laboratories. This standard is adopted by medical laboratories in over 60 countries with all continents represented.

It is a first in the clinical practice in the maritime industry in India that a laboratory has obtained the stamp of quality and excellence conforming to ISO 15189:2012.
