The UK P&I Club was glad to be given to opportunity to take part in the latest Wellness at Sea Conference that took place in Singapore on 17th Jan 2017. The conference organised by the Sailors society was held to raise awareness of the "Wellness at sea"

The UK P&I has been worried by an increase in Mental health issues including a rise in anxiety, depression and in extreme cases even suicides in recent years. As part of our commitment to seafarers health, the Club has sponsored the 'Emotional Wellness' module.

Capt Anuj Velankar spoke at the conference on the subject of Mental health and suicides at sea and the impact that these serious incidents have on the crew, the transit of cargo and the ships efficiency.

The Club was also able to share their extensive crew health related material with the delegates. Members can find the material related to crew health on our website here:

If you would like to schedule similar talks at your crew seminars of for the office staff, please get in touch with the Loss prevention team or your usual Club contact.
