Press Release: UK Club Directors elect new Chairman
Directors of the UK P&I Club, the leading provider of P&I insurance and other services to the international shipping community, have subject to regulatory approval elected Nicholas Inglessis as their new Chairman, succeeding Alan Olivier.
Inglessis who has been a Director of Samos Steamship, the 140-year-old Greek ship management company, since 1991 brings considerable experience to the role.
Inglessis has been a Director of the UK Club since 2005 and was elected Deputy Chairman in 2012. Olivier, who was at South African company Grindrod for over 30 years, was elected Chairman of the Club in 2013.
As new Board Chairman, Inglessis will be supported in his role by the Deputy Chairmen Nicholas Schues, Paul Wogan and Randy Chen.
Andrew Taylor, UK P&I Club Chief Executive Officer, says: "Nicholas is an excellent replacement for Alan as our new Chairman, with vast industry experience and an in-depth knowledge of the Club. Alan has navigated the Club through a period of industry-wide turbulence following the global financial crisis. Under his leadership, the Club has regained its S&P A rating, increased its capital base and repaid the hybrid bond. We thank him for his commitment to the Club and wish him well in his future endeavours."
